Ajanna Brockenbaugh, LMHC (NY), LPC (NJ)

(she/her)

Welcome! I’m Ajanna, a licensed mental health counselor in New York and New Jersey. with diagnostic privilege in New York.

Edge of Discovery reflects both my own path and the work I do with clients. It lives in the space between what’s familiar and what’s next, the point where something no longer fits, but the next step isn’t fully clear.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in finance, where I saw firsthand what it looks like to function at a high level and meet expectations on the outside while quietly questioning things on the inside. I was drawn to the conversations people have in those moments: questions about identity, direction, and meaning.

That interest led me into education, supporting adolescents through pressure and transition. Over time, my work has focused more on adults who are used to handling things on their own until they reach a point where their usual ways of thinking and coping are no longer enough.

Our work isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about understanding the patterns you’ve been living, questioning what still serves you, and making intentional shifts that bring your life back into alignment.

You don’t have to sort through all of this on your own. Therapy can be a space to think more clearly, respond more intentionally, and move forward with greater self-trust.

If this resonates, you can schedule a consultation to see if working together feels like the right fit.
